Leave Vietnam after overstay

Practical steps to prepare departure after a Vietnam visa overstay: documents, timing, airport vs prior immigration resolution, and when to escalate to a coordinator.

Prepare before you fly

Gather passport(s), visa/e-visa evidence, entry stamps, accommodation history, and any fine or immigration notices. If your situation is long, involves a replacement passport, or includes a formal notice, resolve with immigration before treating the airport as the plan.

Flights

Flexible tickets are often safer until status is clear. Airlines may refuse check-in when stay status is unresolved. Immigration can still stop departure after check-in if records are incomplete.
